We'll soon be able to use satellites to make phone calls
Starlink satellite internet is still popular and has already convinced many users of the world wide web. Today, satellite internet is already used by more than 300 thousand users around the world. Although this may seem small or insignificant to many, it is undoubtedly an extraordinary achievement. It is still an experimental internet network, which is expected to be fully operational worldwide only in a few years.
Starlink's advanced satellite internet will soon be able to be used to make traditional phone calls with smartphones. This is a service called Starlink Direct-to-Cell. The best part is that a wide range of Android and iOS mobile devices are already compatible with the new service. All you need is a smartphone that supports LTE technology.
In practice, this means that Starlink satellite telephony will also be available to users of older smartphones. The novelty will of course be useful especially for those who do not have access to mobile telephony services and in cases of force majeure when the mobile network is not available. The new Starlink service will be available to users soon, in the form of a paid package. Unfortunately, the price has not yet been disclosed.
