The updated Asus ROG Ally is much more powerful

Asus has recently officially launched the highly anticipated unique portable gaming console with the ROG Ally brand name. Although the novelty is not cheap, it should offer a unique gaming experience without any major problems. This one is equipped with powerful hardware and the Windows 11 operating system, which is perhaps even the most attractive feature, since there are not many Windows game consoles on the market, especially not with such specifications.

But the first tests did not bear the desired fruits of the manufacturer and also of certain users. Namely, the ROG Ally is much slower than the competing portable gaming console Ayaneo 2S with comparable hardware, but in return it is also more expensive. Fortunately, ASUS engineers reacted quite quickly and prepared an updated firmware. On average, this improves the gameplay of console games between 10 and 15 percent. In addition, ASUS has also taken care of improving the power consumption of the new gaming console.

The Asus ROG Ally portable gaming console is powered by an AMD processor with Zen4 cores and an integrated AMD RDNA 3 graphics card, manufactured using 4-nanometer technology. The weaker version is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z1 processor. It uses six processor cores and 12 processor threads to calculate the data. Data is calculated up to a frequency of five gigahertz, and the graphics content is accompanied by a built-in graphics core with 4 RDNA3 processor units. The more powerful version has the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme. It has eight processor cores and 16 processor threads available for data recalculation.

The remaining hardware of the Asus ROG Ally portable gaming console includes 16 gigabytes of LPDDR5 system memory and 256 gigabytes (AMD Ryzen Z1) or 512 (AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme) gigabytes of storage space. The novelty is also equipped with a suitable cooling system. The aforementioned Windows 11 operating system is installed on it. There is also a 40 Wh battery that can be charged at a speed of up to 65 watts. The autonomy of the battery, however, understandably depends on your settings and the selected game.
