These apps drain your phone's battery the fastest!

Nowadays, phone batteries barely last a full day. Especially mid-range smartphones. But did you know that the main reason for this is the installed applications that consume battery and memory in the background?

When you see a low battery notification on your phone, it's probably your own fault or the apps you've installed. Since different apps require different amounts of power to function properly, OurPCB did a very detailed analysis to find out which apps drain your battery the fastest, even when you're not using them.

The analysis included checking which functions the applications use and need for their operation (e.g. location, camera, etc.), how much energy they require for their operation, and whether they have the option to set a dark mode.

The biggest consumers were Fitbit and Instagram, each of which could consume up to 85 percent of the autonomy of smartphones. In addition to them, the biggest consumers of the phone's battery are applications such as Whatsapp, X, Revolut, Telegram and Uber. The biggest problem is that the aforementioned applications constantly request access to our location and Wi-Fi connection, which significantly contributes to excessive energy consumption and thus a decrease in the autonomy of the mobile phone.

The results are calculated for the average user and may not apply to you. However, you can quickly and easily check for yourself which apps are the most “hungry” apps. All you need to do is open your phone’s settings, then click on battery settings and select the order from the most to the least consuming in the list of apps (most likely, your phone does this itself).

But it's a bit different when it comes to memory usage. In this category, ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft use the most RAM, followed by social network Facebook. PayPal, Airbnb, YouTube, TikTok, and Snapchat also rank high on the list. Among the lowest RAM users are Spotify, Instagram, CNN, Tinder, and other popular mobile apps.
