The world's smallest external Solid State drive

We've all probably thought about the fact that when a computer breaks down, we can instantly lose all the documents and photos we have stored on it. Some people don't care, others store files in the cloud, others on an external drive. In this way, they ensure that they will not lose their nerves and valuable files in the event of a computer failure.

A mobile or external Solid State drive is certainly an excellent solution, as you can use it to store photos, videos or music, and the biggest advantage is of course its mobility, as you can take it with you anywhere. With it, you can ensure data persistence while also easily freeing up space on your computer and improving its performance. You can store incredible amounts of files on these devices, depending of course on their capacity.

External SSD drives are actually only hindered by size. Compared to USB sticks, they are, as expected, larger, so they are a little less convenient to carry around on a daily basis. The Buffalo company met this challenge and developed the world's smallest external Solid State drive. The SSD-PST1.0U3-BA measures only 14.6 x 28 x 8 millimeters and weighs only 4.5 grams. It immediately reminds us of a USB key or an adapter for headphones, keyboard or mouse. If the user is not careful, it can be lost in a pocket or bag very quickly.

The Buffalo SSD-PST1.0U3-BA drive also features a USB-A 3.1 interface with a data transfer speed of up to 600 megabytes per second. Although it does not break speed records, the speed is still very satisfactory. The drive is available in three versions. The entry-level model offers 256 gigabytes of space, while the more powerful one offers 512 gigabytes and one terabyte of available data storage space.

The drive is compatible with a wide range of operating systems such as Linux (v.4.4.x or later), Chrome OS, Android, iOS/iPadOS (v.13 or later), macOS (v.10.15.x or later), and Windows (10-11). Buffalo SSD-PST1.0U3-BA is expectedly not very cheap. It is currently sold only in the Japanese market, and the retail price of the entry-level version with 256 gigabytes of space is valued at around 120 euros.
