The new YouTube functionality will warn of misleading content
On Monday, June 17, YouTube publicly unveiled the idea of a new functionality aimed at content creators. Soon, first of course in the USA, the novelty "notes", which could be translated as "notes", will be available. This will allow YouTube to add context to videos.
In the first test phase, YouTube will invite selected users and content creators on the platform to test the new functionality. The main goal of the annotations mentioned above is to add relevant information, timely updates and understandable context to the videos.
"Notes" could help users identify parodies of songs, show when, say, a product in a video is actually available for purchase, and, with the help of YouTube's innovation, users could find out when an older video is accidentally shown as current event.
Social network X received a similar feature called “Community Notes” some time ago. X allowed certain users to add context to posts, including labels such as "misleading" and "out of context."
In the initial phase, the YouTube novelty "notes", as is usually the case, will be available only on mobile devices in the USA, namely in English. In this phase, third-party evaluators will monitor the effectiveness of the new functionality, which will of course help prepare the system for potential global expansion.
YouTube also added that users in the US will be able to see the first notes on the platform in the coming weeks, and the most users will be included in the testing phase in the following months.
