The end of Fitbit smartwatches: Google has confirmed that there will be no Sense 3 and Versa 5 models

Google has confirmed that there will be no new Fitbit smartwatches. This also officially ends the slow but steady decline in interest in the Versa and Sense brands.
The end of Fitbit smartwatches: Google has confirmed that there will be no Sense 3 and Versa 5 models

Since Fitbit became part of the Google "family" in 2021, the Fitbit platform has been integrated into devices such as the Pixel Watch 3. At the same time, Fitbit users have been deprived of app support and the ability to use the functionality that built the user community.

All along, it seemed like Fitbit as we knew it was slowly saying goodbye. There was simply nothing that could convince buyers. When co-founders Eric Friedman and James Park left the company earlier this year, it became definitively clear that the otherwise successful story was coming to an end.

As for the future of Fitbit's activity trackers, there's no need to fear, as Google will continue to develop the Luxe, Charge and Inspire devices, according to Wareable. The Fitbit platform will also power Google's line of smartwatches.

While many activity tracker experts say that Fitbit's latest smartwatch models weren't exactly cutting edge technology, they also argue that the Versa 4 and Sense 2 were an affordable entry into the smartwatch space of this specific design.

Regardless, Google has seen a different future for Fitbit smartwatches, and it seems like it's even better than offering what customers have had for the past few years.

Finally, it is worth mentioning the increasing competition in the field of low-cost smart watches, which probably influenced Google's decision. Here are devices like CMF by Nothing Watch Pro 2 and Xiaomi Watch 2 that offer good value for money. In any case, this is difficult to compete with, and Google is well aware of this.
