Beginning of the end of Nokia smartphones?
The company HMD (Human Mobile Devices) Global has been preparing Nokia smartphones for many years, aimed at a wide range of users. But it seems that the Nokia smartphone brand will soon become a thing of the past. HMD Global is expected to bring only one smartphone to the MWC Barcelona 2024 fair in February, equipped with its own brand.
Not much is currently known about HMD Global's first smartphone. It is said to be equipped with a relatively good camera, but it will be necessary to wait for a realistic evaluation. So far, Nokia phones haven't exactly performed well, especially not compared to the competition, which has always offered a lot more for the same money. The main camera is said to have a 108 MP sensor with OIS and customized photo processing algorithms. A higher number of pixels does not automatically mean that we will capture great photos, as we have already proven in past phone tests. A lot depends on the light and also on the user who needs to know when to use certain shooting modes.
Existing Nokia phones are said to be sold at reduced prices, with this they want to get rid of old stock as soon as possible and prepare the ground for new phones. A recent video posted by Nokia Mobile on their official YouTube portal also clearly indicates this. The video is available at https://youtu.be/lGy1KnHC1oA.
There is no official confirmation that Nokia smartphones will go to the eternal hunting ground forever. But more will be known soon. More information will certainly be available during the mobile phone fair MWC Barcelona 2024, which we will also attend in the editorial office.
