Here are the first laptops with the Snapdragon X processor

The first laptop equipped with a Snapdragon X processor is finally here. Here we find laptops like HP EliteBook Ultra, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9, Dell XPS 13 934, Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 and others. High-end laptops come with the Snapdragon X Elite processor, while the mid-range comes with the Snapdragon X Plus.

The Snapdragon X Elite processor easily copes with even the most demanding tasks. This one is very fast with its 12 Oryon cores, 42 MB cache and the highest turbo frequency of 4.3 GHz. The novelty is said to be about 60 % more powerful than the i7-13800H and twice as fast as Intel's i7-1355U and i7-1360P, while consuming only a third of the power. At the same time, Qualcomm is also focusing on Apple, which is its main competitor when it comes to ARM-based laptop processors. It states that the Snapdragon X Elite provides 50 % better multithreading performance compared to the Apple M2 chip.

The first performance tests performed with the newcomer were very encouraging. In terms of performance, the novelty is comparable to Intel's Core i7-13700HX, Core i9-13900H and AMD's latest mobile flagship Ryzen 9 8945HS. If these numbers match real-world performance, Qualcomm's new ARM-based laptop chip will perform on par with the best hardware Intel and AMD offer today.

For less demanding users, the Snapdragon X Plus is available. This one is expectedly less powerful compared to the Snapdragon X Elite model. The novelty with the Snapdragon X Plus X1P-64-100 sales tag has 10 physical processor cores, six of which are more powerful. The highest operating frequency is 3.4 gigahertz. The built-in graphics card will be a bone even for less demanding tasks.

Laptops equipped with X family Snapdragon processors will be able to be equipped with up to 64 gigabytes of LPDDR5x system memory. In addition, it offers support for many powerful storage technologies such as UFS 4.0, PCIe Gen4 and SD v3.0. As for wireless connections, there is support for Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and Bluetooth LE technologies.
