Serious issues for Amazon Prime Air delivery

Some time ago, Amazon achieved an important feat, as it delivered ordered packages to its customers with the help of a drone as part of the Prime Air service. If you haven't heard of this service, it's because, as usual, the novelty is only available in selected US states. How was the delivery process?

The customer placed the order on the website, and only an average of 13 minutes passed by the time the ordered goods were delivered. In order for drone deliveries to be as fast or even faster in the future, Amazon is seriously considering the possibility of introducing flying warehouses for its most popular products, using aircraft for this purpose.

The Prime Air service has become even more strategic for Amazon in 2021, as the coronavirus crisis has clearly shown the increasing importance of online ordering and delivery of products purchased online. However, Amazon has had to slow down somewhat with the Prime Air project, as its drones have been involved in numerous accidents. Although the flight reliability issues have already been resolved, the Prime Air service is not very popular among users.

Amazon expects to make more than 10,000 drone deliveries by 2023. But in the course of this year, barely 100 of them were carried out in the US states of Texas and California. Due to the unpopularity of Prime Air, it is currently unknown whether Amazon will stick with it and simply give up on it, or use it to inspire the development of its replacement.
