Samsung with a new sensor to revolutionize photography!
The latest generation of integrated digital cameras is equipped with multiple lenses, powerful sensors and smart algorithms that replace optical settings, all of which have required years of learning. Samsung will take the quality of captured photos and videos to an even higher level, having previously introduced the advanced ISOCELL HP1 family image sensor with an impressive resolution of 100 megapixels. An even more powerful image sensor is expected to be available soon.
Samsung engineers are reportedly currently developing an image sensor with a resolution of 500 megapixels! This is expected to be intended for the upcoming high-end Galaxy S family of smartphones. The key advantage of using the new image sensor will be significantly improved digital zoom, which will further improve the quality of mobile phone photos.
Samsung’s new image sensor will of course support advanced technologies. A key feature will be “End-to-End (E2E) AI Remosaic.” This will actually help cut processing times for 500-megapixel images in half. It will adjust the image processing process to perform “remosaicing” and perform all image signal processing operations in parallel rather than sequentially. The company says this should also reduce data loss due to latency, which in turn means we can expect photos with “richer detail and color.”
Unfortunately, there is currently no information on when the new sensor will be ready for the high-end Galaxy S smartphones. However, it will not be very soon. Experts estimate that it will take several more years, as developing such a sensor is a very demanding task.
