Revenues from electronic communications services in Slovenia are higher, and the value of investments is also higher

The total revenue from electronic communications services last year amounted to EUR 1,150 million and was 4 % higher on an annual basis. The value of investments in the field of electronic communication services grew by 7 %, to EUR 274 million.

Compared to 2021:

  • for 7 % more investments in the field of electronic communications,
  • for 4 % more revenues from electronic communications services,
  • for 35 % more data transfer in the mobile network,
  • for 6 % less domestic outgoing mobile phone traffic,
  • for 18 % less domestic outgoing fixed telephone traffic.

The services of the public fixed telephone network contributed the most revenue, but the growth in these was the smallest

The total revenue from electronic communications services amounted to EUR 1,150 million in 2022, of which revenue from the public telephone network at a fixed location contributed 43 % or EUR 495 million, revenue from publicly available mobile telephone services 33 % or EUR 376 million and revenue from interconnection service 13 % or EUR 150 million. Other revenues amounted to 11 % or EUR 128 million.

The total revenue from electronic communications services was 4 % higher than in 2021. Revenue from publicly available mobile telephone services increased by 6 %, and revenue from interconnection services by 9 %. Revenue from public fixed telephone network services grew by 1 %.

Growth in investments is higher than in revenues

The value of investments in the field of electronic communication services amounted to EUR 274 million last year. This was 7 % more on an annual basis.

More than a third more data transfer

Compared to 2021, less domestic outgoing telephone traffic was generated, both fixed and mobile (the former by 18 %, the latter by 6 %). There was also less outgoing telephone traffic to international networks (fixed by 23 % and mobile by 5 %).

Users of Slovenian mobile networks sent 1 % fewer SMS messages, but 3 % more MMS messages. Data transfer via the mobile network increased by more than a third (35 %).

The number of providers of both cable and satellite and Internet services has declined

At the end of the previous year, there were 16 fixed telephone network operators and 7 mobile telephone network operators on the Slovenian market. There were 32 cable and satellite service providers, and 50 internet service providers.

About 6,600 people were employed and self-employed in this activity, or 1 % less than in the previous year.
