“Recall” available for computers with AMD and Intel processors
What we have been expecting for some time has now happened. Copilot Plus computers, which have built-in the latest AMD and Intel processors, have been updated with the controversial Recall function. On Copilot Plus computers with Qualcomm chips, the feature has been available for a good month as part of the Windows Insider developer program.
If you don't already know, the Recall feature takes screenshots of everything you do on your Copilot Plus computer. All this with the aim that later you will be able to find what you are looking for or what you did more easily after the recordings. Due to the access to a huge amount of personal data and the negative response, Microsoft initially postponed the outcome of the feature, but later took the middle road, namely that the feature is optional. If you want it, you'll have to turn it on manually.
The process for updating Copilot Plus computers with AMD and Intel processors is the same as for Qualcomm computers. You must be affiliated with the developer program, where you will find all the necessary files for installation. In the feature settings, you will be able to choose what you want to be saved. You can also set it to not take screenshots in certain apps and websites. The function should also automatically detect whether there is sensitive data on the screen, such as financial data, and automatically stop recording.
If you want to access saved screenshots, you will need to authenticate with Windows Hello first.
Also part of the latest update is a "Click to Do" feature that can recognize images and text in screenshots, which you can then edit, copy, and more with the help of artificial intelligence. You can do the same with photos that you will find online or in your gallery. To do this, hold down the Windows key and click on the photo with the mouse - various editing options will appear.
The Windows Photos app will soon also receive Image Creator and Restyle Image features for faster photo editing.
