The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is the long-awaited upgrade
The middle class of telephony is becoming more and more interesting. Phones are getting more powerful, more than decent photographers and beautiful in design. But a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor is coming, promising the expected upgrades that will make mid-range phones even more appealing to the masses.
One of the most interesting rumors is that the 7+ Gen 3 could inherit the architecture of the current most powerful Android processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This could mean a similar configuration of cores, including a high-performance Cortex-X4 core, five medium-performance Cortex-A720 cores and two efficient Cortex-A520 cores.
Understandably, they will have to accept some compromises if they want to use the chip in the middle class. Speculations point to possible compromises in graphics processing or reduced AI capabilities.
Expectations are high. All signs suggest that this could be a chip that will make a bigger leap in performance and perhaps also shrink the connector behind the premium class. The current version of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is also a very good chip, but it can only be found in a few devices, such as Xiaomi and Realme. The third generation, if it's going to deliver as promised, needs to be more affordable if it's to make a difference in this class.
The first smartphones equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 mobile processor will soon be offered for sale by Xiaomi, Realme, Oppo, Honor and Vivo. This should happen before the start of summer. The first phone equipped with the new chip will most likely be the POCO F6.
