Sony announced late last year that its latest gaming console, the PlayStation 5 Pro, was finally available for purchase. The new console features a larger solid-state drive and a more powerful processor, but is only available without an optical drive.

The main trump card of the new PlayStation 5 Pro game console is, of course, the chip. This is an AMD processor equipped with eight special Zen 2 processor cores and an RDNA 3 graphics card with as many as 30 active graphics cores and 16 gigabytes of GDDR6 graphics memory. The new graphics card of the PlayStation 5 Pro console actually contains as many as 67 percent more graphics cores. Therefore, it is not surprising that its performance is as much as 45 percent higher compared to that found in the PlayStation 5 console. In practice, this means that it can be compared in performance to the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics card. But all this does not seem to have convinced console game fans.

Analyst Mat Piscatella has revealed that the new PlayStation 5 Pro is currently even less popular than the much older PlayStation 4 Pro in the US market. The reasons for this are said to be the high price of the new console and the insufficient number of optimized games. This could also lead to a decrease in the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro in the near future, as Sony accumulates inventory, which consequently increases costs.
