The smart window generates electricity when it rains

Renewable energy sources are an important and preferred way of utilizing the energy of water, wind, sun and other natural resources. Solar power plants in particular have become a key element in global efforts to transition to sustainable energy. With their ability to convert sunlight into electricity, they have become one of the fastest growing sources of renewable energy, tapping into an inexhaustible source of energy.

Although sunlight is an important renewable energy source, engineers at South Korea's Seoul National University College of Engineering have come to the realization that electricity can be generated even when it rains. For this purpose, they prepared a smart window, which could play an important role in the future in obtaining electricity. In addition, we will be able to use such smart windows for cooling and to eliminate condensation.

Smart windows can currently produce around 8.3 watts of electricity per square meter when it rains. In addition, they can help reduce the temperature by seven degrees in the summer, as they let in only the visible part of the light. The icing on the cake is the possibility of heating them on cold days to prevent condensation. Unfortunately, there is currently no information on when such windows will be available for free sale.
