New Instagram posts with a maximum of 20 images or videos

Twice as much space for posting pictures and videos in gallery format.
New Instagram posts with a maximum of 20 images or videos

Whether you've been dreaming of a longer Instagram "carousel" post of your dog or cat, the latest fantastic trip, or just a summary of what happened in the last month, the new thing coming to Instagram is sure to make you happy.

Instagram, Meta's social network that continues to see user growth, announced today, August 9, that "carousel" posts will be able to contain up to 20 images or videos. So twice as much as the limit was until now. Despite the fact that most users of the platform do not post to the gallery every day, this is definitely positive news for all those who have always wanted more in-depth posts.

The related gallery format post type is a convenient way to post multiple things linked by a common theme. We can easily move left and right between pictures and videos, and especially those more serious content creators will be able to "communicate" even more by raising the limit. You have probably already seen these "monthly dumps" types of posts, in which users show what happened to them during the month through pictures and videos. Such and similar posts will be even richer in content from now on.

Of course, it's important to point out that this 20-image or video limit isn't something we necessarily have to hit when we post. We can also publish just one picture or video, or of course a combination of both. The new limit set by Instagram kind of follows the model of TikTok, where the limit is 35. It seems that Instagram is trying to raise the level and intensity of user interaction compared to TikTok.

This update is already rolling out across devices globally and we'll be able to post a gallery of 20 photos soon. Instagram has been pretty active on the upgrade front this summer. Just a reminder that in July he introduced AI Studio, which helps bigger, more serious users of the platform get closer to followers.
