Is this the release date of the new iPhone 15?

All Apple fans are well aware of when new iPhones are usually released. According to the latest rumors, it seems again that September could be the month when we get the next generation iPhone.
Is this the release date of the new iPhone 15?

With a brand new generation of Apple devices just around the corner, we've been treated to weeks of rumors and leaks, each trying to more or less accurately guess when the next Apple event will be.

Now it looks like we won't have to guess anymore; maybe we finally have a date for the event. The highly-anticipated event looks set to take place on September 13, thanks to some new information from a reliable source. This means that the new iPhone 15 may not be as far away as it seems.

More than just rumours

Unnamed sources have revealed to 9to5mac that a large number of smartphone announcements are expected to take place on September 13 - and employees are being urged not to take vacations during that time. This information came from several places and from pretty reliable sources.

At the moment, we cannot say with certainty that this is Apple's traditional event. All things considered, it seems very unlikely that Apple would prepare so much for the release of a competitor's device, and the information that Apple should tell employees not to go on vacation during this time will be even more eye-catching.

The latest iPhone has been announced in September almost every year it's been released and has become the industry standard at this point - if you're a mobile brand competing with Apple, you're aware of this fact. The announcement dates of the latest iPhones are:

iPhone 14 — Announced on September 7, released on September 16
iPhone 13 — Announced September 15th, released September 24th
iPhone 12 — Announced on October 13, released on October 23
iPhone 11 — Announced on September 10, released on September 20
iPhone XS — Announced September 12, released September 21
iPhone X — Announced September 12, released November 3

Since the source of the above information is not named, we will have to wait a few more weeks to find out if this event is indeed planned by Apple. As far as mobile phones go, Apple's event is one of the biggest of the year. The iPhone is Apple's best-selling device and the most popular smartphone in the US - and it's always exciting to see the latest model Tim Cook and team unveil. The Apple Watch Series 9 and maybe even the AirPods Max 2 are also likely to make an appearance.
