After 21 years, hackers broke the protection of Windows XP

The Windows XP operating system quickly became popular with many PC users, as it was a step ahead of everyone at the time, especially its predecessor. Microsoft officially introduced it back on October 25, 2001. Immediately after that, Windows XP literally occupied PCs and laptops, from individuals to businesses.

In April 2014, Microsoft discontinued support for the aforementioned operating system, which had been in active use for more than a decade. Even the most urgent security fixes have not been available for it for a long time, but Windows XP still enjoys great admiration among computer enthusiasts, mainly due to nostalgia.

If we are to believe the research of the analytical company StatCounter, in September of this year, 0.35 percent of users still swear by the outdated Windows XP. Most of them come from Armenia. According to the survey, Windows XP has more members there than the much newer and still supported Windows 10 operating system.

What's even more interesting is that after 21 years, Internet addicts have managed to trick the activation system of the Windows XP operating system. This is the "xp_activate32.exe" file that can generate a Windows XP installation key without external guards that are no longer available. The new software tool will definitely come in handy for those who are still using the Windows XP operating system and want to reinstall it.
