Grok 3 is free for all X users – how it works
In addition to the classic features that we are all now familiar with from various UI generative models, Grok 3 offers a “DeepSearch” mode. Something like the “Deep Search” option in ChatGPT Pro, Gemini Advanced and Perplexitiy AI. The virtual agent searches the web instead of the user and offers an in-depth report on the selected topic. The latest version of Grok also has a “Think” mode, which uses reasoning to solve more complex problems in the fields of mathematics, science and coding.
Although Grok 3 is free for all X users, those with a subscription will receive certain benefits and advantages. For example, X Premium+ users and SuperGrok subscribers will have advanced access to the voice mode of the model and more reliable general access to Grok. The voice mode should be ready soon, and, similar to other providers, it will allow communication in different languages, transcripts and more.
This week, X introduced a new pricing model, with the new X Premium+ subscription now costing $40 per month, up from $22 previously. SuperGrok is a new subscription type that will be available to all users who don't necessarily want the other aspects of a premium account. The price of the SuperGrok subscription is not yet known, but we can certainly expect it to be expensive.
How does Grok 3 work?
If you would like to try Grok, simply log in to your X account and a Grok dialog will appear on the left. It works in much the same way as other such models.
During use, we can access all the sources that the model used to answer, we can upload PDF, JPG and PNG files, as well as various text, CSV, XML and Excel files.
For more in-depth results, we need to use the DeepSearch mode. As a prompt, we can use more complex information that somehow requires more in-depth web research. Grok explores numerous web sources and presents the results in the form of a comprehensive report.
If you want to challenge Grok even more, select the “Think” button. Type a complex mathematical equation or an advanced scientific question into the prompt. The model breaks down the problem into individual stages, explains each step individually, and then offers a result.
In addition to being used within X, Grok 3 can be used via a website, iOS app, and Android app. Users who have tested Grok 3 and used other models for comparison say that it easily competes with competitors such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and others.
