"Google search engine will be different in 2025"

Google CEO Sundar Pichai says that Google's search engine will "fundamentally change" in 2025. "I think we're going to be able to solve more complex issues than ever before," Pichai said at the DealBook Summit.

"I think you'll be surprised at the start of the year at the things a search engine can do compared to today's version."

Pichai also responded to a comment from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who said earlier this year that Google should be the "default winner" in the race to be the best artificial intelligence. "I would be happy to compare Microsoft's designs and ours," Pichai said. He added that Microsoft is "using someone else's models," implying, of course, that Microsoft is using OpenAI's models.

"When I look at what's ahead, we're in the earliest stages of a major shift," Pichai said. "I think there is still a lot of innovation ahead of us. We are committed to being at the very top in this field, and I think we are succeeding in that."

Google launched a major AI search overhaul this year, which included the addition of AI search summaries and an update to Lens, which lets you search the web with videos. The company is also preparing to roll out a major update to its Gemini model as it aims to outpace Microsoft, OpenAI, and AI search engine Perplexity, which has become a popular alternative.

Many people have also started using the Kagi search engine, which does not show ads, is very consistent and concise with results. The only drawback is that you only get 100 searches as a free user. However, for continued use, you must opt for one of the subscriptions that start at $5 per month.
