Where can you buy Google Pixel phones? Which one to choose?

In 2023, we are still surprised that Slovenia does not have an official Google representative. Unfortunately, this means that Google Pixel phones are not sold through the channels and carriers we are used to.

Telekom Slovenije last offered the Google Pixel 3, the other Google Pixel phones never caught their attention. A1 Slovenia has not yet felt the opportunity in Google devices. Telemach, which has the Google Pixel 6 in black in its range, and T-2, which has the latest Pixel 7 models in its T-2 Club, but not at the best price, do the best.

It all seems very sad, especially since it is the products of the biggest technology giant in the world and the developer of the most popular operating system.

Pixel phones thus belong to the not exactly a flattering list of devices, to which Slovenian users are very fond difficult we access. The list also includes vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, Asus, Nubia (Red Magic) phones, which are available in Slovenia in a limited range or are not even to be overlooked.

We have no choice but to turn our eyes to foreign sellers. It is usually the first address Amazon, and those more skilled searchers look for other stores in our closest neighbors.

Why don't we have a Google representative in Slovenia?

If we take into account the data of the Statista analysis, in 190 countries around the world there are more than 3 billion Android users. A huge network that no one can compete with. We would expect that such a network of users would simultaneously have unrestricted access to all other Google products, especially to Pixel phones, which in recent years matured into a real competitor.

The most common reason or excuse why Google does not have a representation in Slovenia is that we are easy too small market. To successfully manage the entire sales and after-sales experience, which includes warranty claims, repairs, customer support, etc., would represent a cost for them that would not be recouped through sales. Of course, we don't have an official reason, so we can only conclude. In any case, we are on worse Slovenian consumers, who would like to see the Google phone live before we buy it. If they were available from carriers, we believe that many users would reconsider whether they want the latest Samsung or Xiaomi, or try a Pixel phone this time.

Either way, hope remains. The internet is a wonderful thing, and we don't have to go far to get our hands on the latest (or older) Google Pixel phone.

Google Pixel phones: Which one to choose?

Let's start with the best. Last October, we got the Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro, which will hold the title of the best phones from the American manufacturer until the next release.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

The Google Pixel 7 Pro is the follow-up to the very well-received Pixel 6 Pro phone. Of course, it was further polished and built in Nov processor Google Tensor G2, improved cameras, battery, screen... The upgrade is noticeable, and for significantly less money, it's a phone that can be compared to other flagships on the market, including Apple's iPhone 14 Pro Max and Galaxy S22/S23.

6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED screen protected by the famous Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Refreshes dynamically from 1 to 120 Hz. Maximum brightness is 1,500 nits, resolution up to 1440 x 3120 pixels. Although they have improved the screen, it lags behind the two biggest competitors in almost all parameters. Apple and Samsung have the best screens on the market for a reason, but Google is not far behind. And in any case, we must not forget that it is a phone that can boast of almost half the price.

They also improved the cameras. The ultra-wide camera now has a significantly wider angle compared to the Pixel 6 Pro. It also got a macro camera function that automatically turns on when you get close to the subject. Optical stabilization is excellent. 5x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom are available. You can record in 4K resolution (60 fps), which also applies to the front camera.

What has confused users is the glass back that is very slippery. It lacks a matte coating that would improve grip. We recommend using a cover for safer use. Charging is also a weak point for Google, similarly for Samsung and Apple. Google Pixel 7 Pro can be charged at a speed of 23W, you need to buy the charger separately.

We also marvel at the fact that Google "only" offers 3 years of Android upgrades and 5 years of security patches. Samsung offers one year longer Android support, which does not exactly speak in favor of the developer of the Android operating system.

And now the answer to the main question, what is the price of google pixel 7 pro?

  • Google Pixel 7 Pro 128GB/12GB
    • Snow white: €795.99
    • Black: €799
    • Greyish-green: €790.99
  • Google Pixel 7 Pro 256GB/12GB
    • Snow white: €927.60
    • Black: €851
    • Greyish-green: €860

Google Pixel 7

The Pixel 7 is smaller, a cheaper version of the Pro phone. You will make some compromises, however saved up to almost €300. The 6.3-inch screen refreshes at 90 Hz and has a lower resolution (FHD+ vs. QHD+). The battery is smaller (4,355 mAh vs. 5,000 mAh), as a result, so is its autonomy. It boasts the same main camera as the Pixel 7 Pro, but has not received an upgraded ultra-wide and telephoto camera.

Google Pixel 7 price?

  • Google Pixel 7 128GB/8GB: 549 € in all three colors
  • Google Pixel 7 256GB/8GB: current price in Amazon Warehouse €637.97; It is a product with an open package: a valid warranty and the possibility of returning the product within 30 days.

Google Pixel 6a

Google Pixel 6a is one of the most impressive budget phones, which are available at this time. The main reason is the Tensor G1 processor, which can boast almost flagship performance. It also has, according to many, the best set of cameras in this price range. The Pixel 6a's strengths include an attractive design, a compact 6.1-inch design (OLED display) and light weight, and Google's clean version of Android. Many media have labeled the Google Pixel 6a as the best "budget" phone, unfortunately we were unable to test it in the editorial office.

On paper, however, we noticed some shortcomings: 60-Hz display only, zoom photography is not useful, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack and slow charging.

The Pixel 6a bets primarily on processor speed, an excellent main camera, an authentic Android experience and extremely low price.

  • Google Pixel 6a 128GB/6GB
    • Green: €319
    • Grey-white: €296.67; open packaging
    • Dark grey/black: €319

These are the main models that deserve your attention. The Google Pixel 6 Pro is still a great phone, but we would rather recommend you to sacrifice a few euros and get a significantly better phone (Pixel 7 Pro) with longer Android support. If you're still tempted to buy the Pixel 6 Pro, you can check it out here for €554.

Google Pixel phones do not have access to the 5G network in Slovenia

This is an important fact to remember before any purchase. The unavailability of the 5G network is not an obstacle at the moment, as 4G is more reliable and fast enough for our needs. Whether this will change in the future is not yet known. In all probability, there will be no changes until Google officially enters the Slovenian market.

Have you tried any Google phones yet? How was your experience?
