Gmail search with artificial intelligence

Gmail search with artificial intelligence

Gmail search is almost as bad as Outlook and Windows Explorer, but Google has promised that the search experience will be different from now on, as they are introducing artificial intelligence into the mail server.

Gmail search will no longer return results in chronological order based solely on the keywords you search for, but will instead consider other criteria, including “repeat clicks, most clicked emails, and frequent contacts,” the company wrote in a blog post on The Keyword. “With this update, the emails you’re looking for are more likely to appear at the top of search results, saving you valuable time and making it easier to find important information.”

The new “most relevant” search results feature is rolling out now to users worldwide, and will be available when accessing Gmail via both a web browser and Google’s Gmail apps for Android and iOS. However, Google says the feature won’t replace Gmail’s previous approach to email search. Instead, you’ll be able to toggle between chronological keyword results and a new “most relevant” option.
