Xiaomi with a crazy phone with 24 GB of RAM
Xiaomi announced the Redmi K60 series in December last year, which includes three smartphones – Redmi K60, Redmi K60E and Redmi K60 Pro. Today they are joined by the fourth member of this series called the Redmi K60 Ultra.
The Redmi K60 Ultra is powered by the Dimensity 9200+ chip, which rivals the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor in terms of performance. The phone runs MIUI 14 and comes with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The K60 Ultra features a 12-bit 6.67-inch 1.5K (2712 x 1220 pixels) display with 2600 nits peak brightness and 2880 Hz PWM dimming. The screen has a 144Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate, which of course makes it great for mobile gaming. Xiaomi says that the Redmi K60 Ultra features an X7 independent graphics chip developed in collaboration with Pixelworks, which allows it to reach a default speed of 144 fps in 30 games. The X7 chip also helps with image clarity.
Xiaomi hasn't specifically stated whether the phone features an LCD or OLED panel, but since the Redmi K60 Ultra has an in-screen fingerprint reader, it's almost certain to be OLED. The screen also covers the full DCI-P3 color gamut and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content.
On the back there is an island with three cameras: The main resolution 54 MP (Sony IMX800) with OIS image stabilization and 8K HDR10+ recording, then an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and a 2 MP macro camera. The island in which the cameras are built has, according to Xiaomi, a metal dome shape. There is a 20 MP camera for selfies and video calls. The entire package is powered by a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, which the manufacturer claims lasts a day and a half and can be charged up to 100 % in 19 minutes with the included 120 W charger. Xiaomi used a proprietary P1 chip for fast charging and a G1 chip for better battery management.
Other features of the Redmi K60 Ultra include 5G connectivity, USB-C, Wi-Fi 6 and multi-function NFC. It also includes stainless steel cooling, stereo speakers and dual-band GPS. Additionally, the Redmi K60 Ultra has an IP68 rating, making it the first Redmi phone with such a high level of water and dust resistance. For now, the phone is available exclusively in China. In all probability, we will soon see it in Europe as well. If they follow the established pattern at Xiaomi, they will change its name on the old continent (maybe even classify it as a POCO phone) and certain features.
