Game Informer is shutting down

Today is a bittersweet day in the gaming world as we say goodbye to the legendary publication Game Informer. After an incredible 33 years, the magazine announced the cessation of publication. It's very sad that Game Informer magazine is going away! She has been a part of our acting lives for so long. It all started in August 1991 when it was just a simple internal FuncoLand newsletter. It's amazing to think that it is now the longest running video game magazine in the world! By 2011, it had become the third largest magazine in the US, with a strong presence in both print and online.

The announcement came as quite a shock to many, especially given the sudden nature of the cancellation. It was a sad day for the team when they were fired just as they were about to finish the next issue, which according to Kyle Hilliard, the magazine's content director, promised a “BIG cover”. The employees, who have dedicated their careers to providing news, reviews and insight into the ever-evolving world of gaming, were informed of the closure and layoffs in a surprise meeting with GameStop's vice president of human resources. It was a difficult moment for everyone involved.

The consequences of Game Informer's closure are felt far and wide, and go beyond job losses. It's the end of an era of games journalism that has left a huge void for gamers who have relied on the publication for three decades. Game Informer was much more than just a magazine. It was the hub of the community, connecting players with all the latest developments in the industry and providing a platform for in-depth analysis and discussion.

When you think about all the amazing things Game Informer magazine has done for gaming culture, it's so clear that the publication has left a huge and lasting impact on the industry. It's a stark reminder of how the media landscape is changing and the challenges print publications face in the digital age. But the love of games that Game Informer brought to life will always remain in our hearts and in the hearts of all gamers.
