Ferrari is intensively preparing for the first electric car

In 2019, Ferrari presented the first Ferrari SF90 Stradale hybrid car with three electric motors and a V8 engine with a total power of 986 horses. Since then, they haven't managed to come up with a fully electric car.

With the opening of a new factory in Maranello, they have taken a big step to realize their wish. The factory, which covers an area of 42,500 square meters, will bear a heavy burden. It will produce models with internal combustion engines, hybrid models and in the future also the mentioned electric car.

Start of production? It is announced in January of 2025, and the first models will most likely be the SF90 and the Purosangue. Ferrari said that placing the production and development of all the types of powertrains it will use in the coming years in a single building is in line with its strategy of "prioritizing quality over quantity of revenue".

The factory will also assemble high-voltage batteries, electric motors and axles, which have been cited as "strategic electrical components that are very important to differentiate Ferrari's technology and performance."

Ferrari has confirmed that it is working on an electric car, but remains tight-lipped about all the technical details for now. The first patents suggested it could take the form of a two-seater with four-wheel drive, and a recent report by Reuters, which Ferrari declined to comment on, suggested a price of 500,000 euros and up.

Chairman of the Board Benedetto Vigna emphasized the advantages of building a new factory for the upcoming electric car. “An all-electric Ferrari requires new technologies, components and processes that we want to design, engineer and hand-build here in Maranello. That's why we specifically invested in this e-building, as it will enable us to maintain our knowledge and experience and maintain our competitive advantage in the years to come."
