A cheaper Samsung phone with much longer support
Apple provides at least 5 years of support, Samsung and Google provide 7 years of support for their phones, but not for all. This privilege is more or less reserved for premium phones. 1000 euros and more to buy a phone is not exactly a small amount. Most phones are sold in lower classes, where the average support period is around 2 years. The speed of receiving these updates is also an issue. Google phones are understandably the first to get access to new Android systems, but for other phones it depends on the manufacturer. The situation has improved recently and owners of Samsung, Xiaomi and Honor phones are getting new updates very quickly.
Updating your Android phone to a new operating system or security patch requires a lot of resources and testing. Still, changes are in the offing at Samsung. The computer giant should also provide longer support for the cheaper smartphones of the A family. From now on, this should amount to a long six years, or four years more than now. The first phone with longer support will be the upcoming Galaxy A16 5G. It will have six years of support, and the entry-level version will cost 239.90 euros.
Unofficial information suggests that the Galaxy A16 5G will have a 6.5-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90 frames per second. The Galaxy A156 5G is also rumored to have a 50-megapixel main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP camera (probably macro). The main camera could have 10x digital zoom. It is said to have a 13-megapixel selfie camera on the front, which should be quite enough.
The upcoming Galaxy A16 5G is said to be equipped with either a Dimensity 6300 processor or a Samsung Exynos 1330 processor, while the Galaxy A15 5G model is equipped with Dimensity 6100+ processors. The new phone could have another four gigabytes of system memory up to 128 gigabytes of internal storage and a microSD card slot.
Other features of the Galaxy A16 5G phone could include GPS, 5G, dual SIM card slot, fairly dated Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack. The Galaxy A16 5G is powered by a battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh, which will be compatible with 25W "fast" charging. The fingerprint reader will be built into the power button. The interesting Galaxy A15 5G will be available in two colors: black and blue, and the body will of course be plastic. As already mentioned, 239.90 euros will be charged for the entry-level version of the novelty. The entry-level version with only a 4G connection will be available for 209.90 euros.
