Samsung Odyssey G65D: monitor for gamers
It looks like Samsung is getting ready to expand its Odyssey monitor series with the new Odyssey G6 model. America's Best Buy has listed the Odyssey G65D as an apparent successor to the Odyssey G65B. While the Odyssey G65D monitor isn't available for pre-order yet, Best Buy has revealed the specs, promotional images, and also the price.
Allegedly, the Odyssey G65D will be available for around 700 euros, or just under 100 euros less than its predecessor, which is very welcome news. According to the specifications of the Best Buy Odyssey G65D, at first glance there is little to distinguish it from the older Odyssey G65B. For example: both have a resolution of 1440p (2560 x 1440) with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. Additionally, the Odyssey G65D has 1000R curvature and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, just like the Odyssey G65B.
The Odyssey G65D runs Tizen and features a small USB hub along with DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports. What confuses us is that the new monitor could have an IPS panel, which is a big change from its predecessor which uses a VA panel. However, in other advertising sections VA panels are mentioned, not IPS. So it's not clear at this stage how Samsung plans to differentiate between the Odyssey G65B and the Odyssey G65D.
