An interesting MSI display for undemanding gamers
The MSI G2712V is a 27-inch IPS gaming monitor with 1080p resolution and 100 Hz refresh rate. It is sold under MSI's esports series brand and is quite different from the more prestigious G253PF.
MSI has introduced the G2712V, a 27-inch gaming monitor aimed at gamers and e-sports enthusiasts. However, a review of the monitor's specifications reveals that the G2712V does not meet the demands of esports gamers, unlike the MSI G253PF. According to MSI, the G2712V is based on an IPS display that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the same as the G253PF. However, the G2712V achieves a screen refresh rate of 100Hz, while the G253PF can reach 380Hz.
In addition, the G2712V has an 8-bit color panel (6-bit + FRC), a good brightness of 300 nits and a DCI-P3 color space coverage of 84.14%. The monitor also has an MPRT response time rating of 1ms, while AMD FreeSync reduces image tearing. MSI has only included the base version of AMD FreeSync, but not the Premium or Premium Pro versions.
In addition, the G2712V has one DisplayPort 1.2a input and one HDMI 1.4b input, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and lacks USB ports for connecting external devices. The monitor stand only allows for tilt adjustments, but a 100 x 100mm VESA mount is also available for use with third-party stands. MSI has not yet revealed the details of the price, but in all likelihood, Slovenian customers will only be able to purchase the monitor in foreign markets.
