ChatGPT online search engine now available to all users

OpenAI announced on December 16 that its AI web search engine is becoming available to all users. The news was announced as part of its 12-day series of “ship-mass” releases, which also introduced a “mobile-optimized” version of the feature and the ability to search with advanced voice mode.

ChatGPT's search engine was initially available only to paid subscribers in October, but will now be available to free users as well. The prerequisite for this is to create an OpenAI account and be logged in to the service as a user.

One of the improvements to mobile search has made ChatGPT more like a traditional search engine. When you search for a specific location, such as a restaurant or local attraction, ChatGPT displays a list of results with images, ratings, and opening hours. Clicking on a location gives you more detailed information about the place, and you can also see a map with driving directions in the app.

Another feature is designed to speed up your search in ChatGPT when you search for certain types of websites, such as “hotel booking websites.” Instead of immediately providing an answer, ChatGPT first displays links to websites and then provides more detailed information about each option. Additionally, ChatGPT can automatically provide up-to-date information from the web in “Advanced Voice Mode,” but this option is only available to paying users.

In previous videos as part of the 12-day reveal, OpenAI also announced the launch of its text-to-image model called Sora, he also announced a subscription to ChatGPT Pro in the amount of 200 US dollars per month.
