ChatGPT from now on also in electric cars
ChatGPT and other language models are the sensation of this decade. So far we have been able to use them on laptops, PCs and even smartphones, but this is not enough for artificial intelligence (AI) solution providers. Cars have now been added to the portfolio. DS Automobiles, a brand of Stellantis, has announced the integration of ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence model, into its DS IRIS system. This feature will be available across the range of DS 3, DS 4, DS 7 and DS 9 cars.
It is worth noting that the popular luxury car manufacturer Mercedes Benz has previously announced that it is testing the use of ChatGPT in its production lines to speed up production. General Motors has also confirmed that it is exploring how and where it might integrate ChatGPT.
ChatGPT uses language models to understand and create natural and fluid interactions. It learns from vast amounts of data to answer a wide range of questions and provide relevant information.
DS IRIS SYSTEM will use ChatGPT artificial intelligence to provide a conversational experience in the vehicle. As before, cars will receive and respond to our voice commands. However, these answers will be much more sophisticated and elaborate. This integration actually turns DS's built-in voice recognition system into a digital assistant that will be trained to answer a variety of questions.
Users will be able to interact with the DS IRIS system by saying “OK IRIS” or pressing a button on the steering wheel. This should allow safe voice interaction without taking the driver's attention off the road or hands off the wheel.
According to the automakers, you will be able to ask artificially intelligent assistants, for example, for places to visit on a trip. They will be able to describe the entire history of a certain place or monument, and on the other hand, they will also be able to read a children's story to your youngest in the car. The possibilities are endless.
Olivier François, head of DS Automobiles, stated that their mission at DS is to provide a unique customer experience. As pioneers in the integration of ChatGPT in the automotive world, they enable generative artificial intelligence that is fluid and intuitive. Yves Bonnefont, Lead Software Developer at Stellantis, expressed his excitement at how this conversational AI model works. He pointed out that the ability to interact is one of the most obvious use cases for AI.
DS Automobiles has already piloted “SoundHound AI powered by ChatGPT” within Stellantis to evaluate the customer experience on the first 20,000 requests. If ChatGPT successfully passes the initial phase, we can soon expect this new technology in Citroen cars and other brands under the umbrella of Stellantis, including Jeep.
