Apple new penalty for slowing down iPhones?

Apple new penalty for slowing down iPhones?

You probably still remember that at the end of 2017, Apple publicly apologized for deliberately slowing down the performance of older iPhone models, which of course surprised their loyal users. It was the iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 and iPhone SE slowing down when their batteries were either depleted or nearly depleted. Due to many angry users, Apple decided to allow them to replace the battery at a cheaper price.

The UK court, which also deals with market competition, among other things, launched an investigation against the computer giant as a result of this event, as Apple allegedly violated several legal provisions regarding fair dealing with its conduct. At the time, it was not surprising that the court immediately approved the initiation of a class action against the American company.

If the class action lawsuit against Apple is successful, the computer giant could face a hefty fine. This could amount to as much as a calculated 1.83 billion euros. This means that the fine in the UK could be much higher than what the company received in the United States. There, Apple had to pay a total compensation of 470 million euros.
