Apple could unveil a deal with Google this fall

At the last event, Apple devoted a lot of time to the artificial intelligence Apple Intelligence, which is currently based on the language model of the company OpenAI. Obviously, that could change very soon. Experts predict that Apple will announce an agreement with Google on the use of their Gemini model in the fall, most likely at the time of the presentation of the iPhone 16 phones.

Gemini has been in the rumor mill for a long time. In fact, the hottest players at the moment are OpenAI and Google. Google started working with Samsung in January and together they took the mobile phone market by storm with Galaxy AI. It is logical that its closest competitor will also want to follow in the same footsteps.

Craig Federighi, head of software at Apple, even hinted at a possible deal with Google after the event. The company Anthropic is also very often mentioned, which could also add its services to Apple's portfolio. It is interesting, however, that Meta is last on the list, mainly at the expense of a worse language model (Llama).

In addition to integrating all the aforementioned chatbots, Apple wants their intelligence to become a profitable source of income. We could also eventually introduce a subscription for more advanced features, but that rollout almost certainly won't happen this year. For example, Samsung has pledged to keep their AI features free until the end of 2025, but they may introduce a subscription later. If they want to compete in this field, Apple also needs to offer all the features at no additional cost initially.

What would Apple gain from a deal with Google? In all likelihood, even more functions for editing and organizing photos and files, perhaps a similar search function that Samsung and Google phones now have, the ability to transcribe, live translation and more.
