A portable console with a great AMD processor
Terrans Force Handle 5 is a portable gaming computer with a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 120-Hz refresh rate, a brightness of up to 450 nits and an excellent AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor with 8 Zen 4 processing cores and 12 RDNA 3 graphics cores.
On paper, it performs very similarly to all other similar devices, including the ASUS ROG Ally console that we are currently testing in the editorial office. However, in this case, it is a relatively unknown company, so we wonder how long the manufacturer will even provide support. At the same time, the console is more expensive than the Steam Deck, ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion consoles, so it is not exactly the best buy from this point of view.
But it is undoubtedly stronger than all the mentioned competitors. First impressions when reading the specifications are great, but like other portable consoles, they are spoiled by the battery, which can only last a good hour under heavy load. If you were only playing less demanding 2D games, you could get two or even three hours of gameplay, but then there's no point in having such powerful hardware.
Other features include support for 100W fast charging, a fingerprint reader with support for Windows Hello sign-in, two USB-C ports (40Gb/s), a microSD card reader, front-facing stereo speakers, 6-axis motion sensors, and support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.
The Terrans Force Handle 5 is available at the MiniXPC store, where you can pick up an entry-level model with 16GB of LPDD5-6400 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD for $1,000, or pay $100 more for a version with 32GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage space.
