Preparing for your trip will be quick and easy with this app

When the application is presented on the portals CNN, Forbes, The Washington Post and Lifehacker, we can reasonably ask what is so special about this application.

Otherwise, the application in question belongs to the older ones, but it performs one basic task, which is to help us pack things for trips. There are probably a lot of people who still rely on classic "list" apps to make lists, or even print some pre-made things from Pinterest.

Well, the PackPoint app puts an end to that. With a few simple answers to questions about the upcoming vacation, PackPoint checks the weather forecast, searches the database and suggests a list of things to take with you.

Most similar apps use various marketing tricks to first attract users and then to retain them. Among the mentioned tricks are prizes, "in-app" purchases, social moments and anything else that could be found. It's absolutely true that these apps are useful too, but once we get an app that doesn't have any of that, it seems like we can breathe a little easier.

Application properties

It can happen that after using the PackPoint application for a while, we wonder if this is all that this application can do. Despite the fact that this seems like a negative thought, we can quickly come to the conclusion that this is the advantage of this application, which means that it does one thing and one thing only.

What PackPoint lacks in complexity, it makes up for in execution itself. The user prompts are very minimalistic, the settings are easy to adjust, and scrolling through the lists is just as quick and easy. Let's look at an example of use on a trip to Malaga, Spain.

As mentioned, the PackPoint application first checks the weather forecast and asks whether it is a business trip or a leisure trip. We can also mark both. Using the PackPoint app is especially suitable for places we don't know or are visiting for the first time. When we enter the place we are traveling to, PackPoint has a very rich database, which means that we should have no problem determining the exact location.

The potential improvements of the application could be first of all when entering the date of the trip, perhaps the calendar would improve the user experience, and then also the color scheme, which is rather dry. If the developers used clearer separators with colors, it would also be quickly clear to the users what needs to be completed and what the priorities are.

Then follows the selection of activities "Select Activities". The screen shows a list of the most common activities, from which we can choose all of them. For example work, camping, beach, photography and more. If we decide on a premium subscription, we can also add our own, even more specific activities. The price of the premium subscription is converted to 3.68 euros.

When we select “Begin Packing”, it really begins. The list of suggested things is divided by category, which increases transparency. Once a certain item is in the suitcase, you can simply tick it off the list. For certain things, numbers also appear if we need a larger number of the same things. Definitely a feature that helps.

The fact is that the PackPoint app is good, but not ideal. If you find that something is missing from the list, you can add as many items to the list as you like. One such thing is the passport, which for some unknown reason the PackPoint application does not add to the list of "necessary" items.
