Desktop keyboard Snapdragon Dev Kit

Some time ago, Qualcomm pleasantly surprised us with a desktop PC. This is a desktop Snapdragon Dev Kit with the tag X1E-00-1DE. The novelty was initially only available to selected individuals, but now it is also available for purchase. The novelty could be ordered in August of this year, and its retail price was a calculated 830 euros (without taxes and duties).

Despite good reviews, the desktop Snapdragon Dev Kit didn't sell well. That's why Qualxomm decided to withdraw it from the supply chain. Everyone who ordered the device will receive a refund. However, the Snapdragon X Elite processor will still be supported for desktops. Perhaps in the future one of the leading manufacturers will be found who will decide to prepare a computer based on it.

The cancellation of the desktop Snapdragon Dev Kit surprised many as it was equipped with the latest Snapdragon X Elite processor. It easily copes with even the most demanding tasks. This one is very fast with its 12 Oryon cores, 42 MB of cache and the highest turbo frequency of 4.3 GHz. The first performance tests performed with the newcomer were very encouraging. In terms of performance, the novelty is comparable to Intel's Core i7-13700HX, Core i9-13900H and AMD's latest mobile flagship Ryzen 9 8945HS. At the same time, Qualcomm is also focusing on Apple, which is its main competitor when it comes to ARM-based laptop processors. It states that the Snapdragon X Elite provides 50 % better multithreading performance compared to the Apple M2 chip.

The Snapdragon Dev Kit PC for the Windows operating system is also equipped with an HDMI output, an RJ45 Ethernet network interface, an HDMI output, and USB 3.2 Type-A and USB Type-C (USB 4) connectors. The novelty is also equipped with 32 gigabytes of LPDDR5x system memory, 512 gigabytes of system memory and a Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 modem, which provides wireless connections Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7. There is also a 180 watt power supply. But as everything shows, all this was not enough for the most demanding users.
