Ford e-bikes draw inspiration from the Mustang and Bronco
Ford has announced that it will be working with N+ to launch two new e-bikes inspired by the automaker's most iconic brands, the Bronco and the Mustang.
Car companies partnering with bike manufacturers to develop e-bikes in the hopes of exciting fans of electric micromobility is nothing new. GM, Porsche, Jeep, Polestar and others tried to do the same, but not everyone was so lucky. However, Ford says its bikes will be unique because they are directly related to two of its most famous models.
The Bronco e-bike will be very robust and designed for riding on rugged terrain. The company says that the bike will be equipped with a 750-W motor that generates 85 Nm of torque for maximum performance when conquering slopes. The bike will also feature a dual suspension system that Ford has dubbed 'GOAT', which is said to mean 'Goes Over Any Type of Terrain'. The seat is said to be more motorcycle-like and available exclusively on the Bronco model. The maximum speed will be 30 km/h, and the range will be around 90 km.
There will be two Mustang e-bikes with similar capabilities to the Bronco bikes. The standard Mustang e-bike will be joined by a limited-edition Mustang 60th Anniversary Edition that will be available exclusively at Ford dealers.
The bikes won't be cheap. The Bronco will retail for around US$4,500 and the Mustang for US$4,000. Pre-orders are already available, delivery is expected in October. They are only available in the US, we will most likely not see a European release.
