Ford first with the new Android system

The automotive industry is changing a lot due to the integration of advanced technology into our daily journeys. At the forefront of this transition is the 2025 Ford Explorer, which has become the first vehicle in Ford's lineup to be equipped with an Android infotainment system. This development represents an important milestone for Ford and heralds the beginning of a new era in vehicle-user interaction.

In addition to smart features, Explorer 2025 also boasts performance, safety and comfort. The vehicle is available with three engines: a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, or a 3.3-liter hybrid system, all mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Explorer also offers four-wheel drive, Terrain Management, Hill Descent Control and Trajectory Control, ensuring optimal performance for off-road adventures.

The vehicle's safety features include Ford Co-Pilot360 technology, which includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind spot information system, lane keeping system, rearview camera and adaptive cruise control. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a 360-degree camera, parking assist and evasive steering assist as optional features.

The Explorer 2025 boasts a spacious and luxurious interior made of premium materials and finishes. There is room for seven passengers in the vehicle, who have enough legroom and headroom. The seats in the second row are equipped with an electric tilting and sliding mechanism, while the seats in the third row are equipped with an electric folding function, which allows the creation of additional cargo space if necessary. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a panoramic roof, a wireless charging pad, ambient lighting and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The Ford Explorer 2025 is a testament to Ford's commitment to developing intelligent vehicles for a connected world. The Android-powered in-vehicle infotainment system sets new standards for connectivity, comfort and entertainment. The vehicle is expected to be available in late 2024, with pre-orders available from early 2024.

First introduced in the Lincoln Nautilus SUV, the new infotainment system features a 13.2-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that offers a seamless and intuitive user experience. The system's integration with Google's Android Automotive platform puts a range of capabilities at the driver's fingertips. The system is designed to keep drivers connected and in control, with built-in Google Maps navigation mirrored on both the main screen and dashboard, and wireless Android Auto and CarPlay for seamless phone integration.

One of the most notable features is the inclusion of the Google Play Store, which allows users to download various car-friendly apps and services directly to their vehicle. This feature, in conjunction with voice commands via Google Assistant or Amazon's Alexa, allows for hands-free control of many functions, including texting, calling and even controlling your smart home.

Ford's commitment to improving the digital experience goes beyond the infotainment system. The 2025 Explorer also gets a facelift, with updated front grilles and taillights, and different grille designs for different trim levels starting at $39,755.

A strategic partnership between Ford and Google, announced in 2021, led to the introduction of the “Ford Digital Experience” system, which debuted in January 2024. While the Explorer is the first vehicle to benefit from this collaboration, other models will follow, including with the electric F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E, introducing larger, vertically oriented panels.
