Onyx electronic book reader with color display
Onyx has opened pre-orders for the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro in the US, less than two weeks after the official launch of this 10.3-inch e-reader, which is actually a tablet with e-ink technology. BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro upgrades BOOX Tab Ultra C. However, for some unknown reason, Onyx preinstalled Android 12 on BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro and not the newer Android 13 and 14 systems.
In addition, the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro features the newer UFS 3.1 flash memory, which should provide significantly higher read and write speeds than the UFS 2.1 found in its predecessor. The Onyx continues to include 128GB of storage, but now offers 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM instead of 4GB. In addition, the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro has a more powerful octa-core processor with a 40 percent higher maximum clock speed, which, along with the additional RAM, should provide a faster user experience.
Surprisingly, Onyx built a 4,600 mAh battery into the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro, which represents a 27 percent lower capacity compared to the 6,300 mAh cell in the BOOX Tab Ultra C. The BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro retails for around US$650 – with a free magnetic protective cases, pens and replacement pen tips. The reader also has the option of connecting a magnetic keyboard, which is sold separately. It costs an additional 150 US dollars. The keyboard is 5-line and has a built-in touchpad.
