Amazon Prime Day 2024 has begun. What is worth buying?

The Amazon holiday has begun. The discounts are on today and tomorrow, so it's worth popping over to their site to see if what you're looking for or want is on sale.
Amazon Prime Day 2024 has begun. What is worth buying?

To make your search a little easier, we've compiled a list of products that we thought were good value. We have divided them into categories so that you don't have to guess where a product is. For most of these products, the discounts only apply if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial and set a reminder on your calendar to cancel your subscription before you're billed for the second month. Postage is free for purchases over €59, just be aware that the products are sent by Amazon and not by some third-party provider.

We will update the list on an ongoing basis, but you can also write to us if you find a good "deal".

Headphones

  • Sony WH-1000XM4 (€199): Still considered one of the best headphones on the market, despite already having a successor and some very strong rivals too. If you're looking for great sound, comfort and a solid battery, Sony headphones are the right choice.
  • Sony WH-1000XM5 (€279): Slightly improved sound, superb comfort again and, like their predecessors, they look great.
  • Apple AirPods Pro 2nd generation (€225): We all know Apple headphones. We can praise their sound, aesthetics, but they are among the more expensive earphones for these earbuds.
  • Apple AirPods 3rd generation (€155): They are not the Pro version, but they still have everything that an average and demanding user needs: easy operation, a solid battery, personalized 3D audio...
  • Sennheiser Momentum 4 (€249.99): Another very good candidate for the title of the best. They offer 60 hours of battery life, personalized sound, great sound and even better comfort.
  • HyperX Cloud III Wireless (€100.63): Headphones with the longest operating autonomy we have ever tested among headphones (more than 100 hours). The sound is also more than good enough for all game lovers.

Discs

  • WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD 2TB (€135.75): If you're a data lover, 2TB is a necessary capacity. You could choose an HDD if you really don't need high speeds, but SSDs have become so affordable that in most cases we don't need HDDs for home use. The SN850X can read at 7300 MB/s and write at 6600 MB/s. Just make sure your board supports PCIe Gen4 SSDs.
  • WD_BLACK SN770 NVMe SSD 2 TB (€106.25): It's not as fast as the SN850X, but it's also slightly cheaper in return.
  • Samsung 990 Pro 2TB (€143.65): Currently the best drive offered by Samsung. With a discount, this is a very good time to buy. The 4 TB version is also on sale for €274.54.
  • Samsung 980 1TB (€64.6): If you're still on the PCIe 3.0 generation and won't be thinking about upgrading for a while, the Samsung 980 is still among the better ones.
  • WD_BLACK SN770 1TB (€66.29): Not part of the Amazon Prime offer, but even at this price it is a good SSD with good speeds, suitable for gaming and work. It's faster than the Samsung 980, it's designed for the PCIe 4.0 data bus, so it's also a better investment for the future.
  • WD_BLACK SN850P 1TB (€124): Mainly for owners of PlayStation 5 consoles.
  • SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD 1TB: If you need something portable, SanDisk has always proven to be a good choice.
  • Samsung T7 1TB (€98.9): 1050 MB/s (read), 1000 MB/s (write), USB 3.2, in short, a good external SSD drive.
    • If you need even more space, the Samsung T7 Shield for €135 is a good choice.

Smartphones

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 (€619): It's true that it's from last year and not Ultra, but it still has a great Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, great cameras, and it's got almost all the AI features that the new Galaxy S24 has.
  • Samsung Galaxy S24+ (€999): Excellent cameras, good battery, excellent screen, all AI functions, the only problem is the Exynos 2400 chip, which is still good enough for 90 % tasks.
  • Samsung Galaxy A55 (€389): Samsung's mid-range debut. It's reliable, has a good main camera, a little limp in performance, which it makes up for with a good screen and software.
  • Google Pixel 8 Pro (€785): There aren't many of them in Slovenia, so this alone will make you part of an elite club. If you don't care about that, you'll get a phone with a great camera and Android as intended by Google. You can get the regular Google Pixel 8 for €585.
  • Google Pixel 7a (€379): One generation older, but still a very good phone.
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 (€149): A perfectly good phone for those who are not interested in the latest technology. However, for this price you still get an AMOLED screen, a solid main camera and a very good battery.
  • Motorola edge50 Pro (€539): We added it because Motorola makes good phones outside of our market. It is a pity that they are not present directly in our market. The Edge50 Pro has a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, reasonably good camera tests, a great display, 125-W charging, and more.
  • POCO F6 (€409): In terms of value, this might be the best phone on the list. It's really hard to get anything better for €400. But this is a phone that is primarily intended for game lovers. Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 120 Hz screen, 512 GB of space, 90-W charging... The only thing more "average" are the cameras.

Monitors

  • LG 27GN800P-B Ultragear (€161.5): IPS panel, 144 Hz, only 1 ms GtG latency, 1440p resolution, 27 inches... Monitors have really gotten cheaper in recent years. This is a very good monitor for a good €150. The LG 27GP850P-B is slightly better, but also €60 more expensive.
  • Samsung G5 C34G55TWWP (€299): It's fast (165 Hz), curved, has a VA panel that's great for gaming or multimedia, but we ranked it mainly because of its 34-inch diagonal.
    • A slightly better value is the 32-inch version (G55C) with similar specifications and a price of €229.
  • AOC Gaming C27G2ZU (€194): 27-inch gaming beast with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. We doubt most will notice the difference between 144Hz and 240Hz, but if you're hawk-eyed, you can prove us wrong.
  • LG Electronics 27UP650P-W (€209): 4K monitor for just over €200? That alone makes it a good bargain, but it's not all rosy. Although it's advertised for gaming, it only has a 60Hz refresh rate and 5ms (GtG) latency, which will be familiar to action games. But it has an IPS panel, so you could use it for work.
  • BenQ MOBIUZ EX2710Q (€184.9): 165 Hz, IPS panel, 1440p resolution, 27 inches...

Laptops and tablets

  • Apple MacBook Air with M2 chip (€919.6): Excellent battery, quiet operation, more than enough capacity for all tasks, very good screen...
  • ASUS TUF Gaming F17 (€999): While we're not too keen on the RTX 4060, this Intel i7-13620H kit for under €1000 seems like a good deal to us.
  • MSI Vector 17 HX (€2199): A computer for fuller pockets and those who like to play on the go. The combination of RTX 4080 and Intel i9-13980HX will ensure that you play all games at the highest resolution, some even at 4K resolution, for the next few years.
  • HP 9R3M5EA (€349): Good enough for working from home or for students.
  • Apple iPad 2022 (€369): Apple's popular tablet with an A14 chip. Not exactly the latest, but still good for basic or moderately advanced users.
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ (€179): If you're looking for a tablet for movies, series, YouTube and web browsing, and you don't want to spend too much, the Tab A9+ will do the trick.

Graphics cards

  • Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon™ RX 7800 XT (€474.89): While Nvidia mostly wins on the performance front, it's hard to argue with AMD on the price/performance front. The RX 7800 XT is still a great card for gaming at 1440p resolution and even at 4K for not too demanding games.
  • ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4070 (€564.15): AMD's 7800 XT beats it when we turn on Ray Tracing, but everywhere else the RX 7800 XT is better and also almost hundreds cheaper.
    • If you were already choosing in the green camp, you would go one step higher with the RTX 4070 Super. The Zotac version is currently €570.
  • PNY GeForce RTX® 4090 24GB (€1659.99): If you need the best and are willing to pay a premium price for it.

Processors

  • Intel® Core™ i7-13700K (€309): 16 cores, TDP 125 W, 30 MB cache, integrated UHD 770 graphics and the ability to wind.
  • AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (€325.81): Not discounted, but still great for the price.
    • The Ryzen 9 5900X, a slightly worse processor, is currently €223.60.
  • AMD Ryzen 5 7600X (€200.49): The base model for AMD's new platform, so make sure you have the right motherboard beforehand.

RAM

  • Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 RAM 32GB (€119.99): DDR5 RAM, capacity 32 GB, CL32, 6400 MHz... Fair price for a very good RAM.
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (€64.5): For those who are not yet ready to switch to DDR5.
  • Kingston FURY Beast 16GB (€36.57): A solid kit for DDR4 architecture.
