Apple Vision Pro soon also in Europe?
Apple Vision Pro, the spatial computing glasses that caused quite a bit of euphoria among users at the beginning of the year, may be coming to Europe very soon. We don't have an exact date, but there are rumors that the launch in European countries could begin after Apple's WWDC 2024 event, which will take place on June 14.
We were also able to test the glasses for a short time in the editorial office thanks to the company XR Lab. We can praise the excellent program interface and perception of the space around us. The eye and hand tracking technology works very well, making it much easier to move around the system and control apps. Typing on the virtual keyboard is not the most accurate, it is also quite awkward, as there is no tactile sensation - to actually type something, you have to rely only on sight.
The advantage and at the same time the disadvantage of the glasses is the excellent compatibility with Macbook computers. The downside is that the glasses only work within the Apple ecosystem. From what we could test in terms of content, it works very well. Especially watching movies and videos worked exceptionally well. We were unable to test the games, except for the basic ones.
We blame the very high price, which hardly justifies an otherwise very unique experience. Given that Meta's glasses are almost 7 times cheaper and have many more applications and games in their portfolio, it is clear that for now Apple's technology is aimed at more niche target groups, especially in the business world.
Since it is the first generation of glasses, there are also issues with the build quality. The screens suffer from cracks, the straps "suck", but these are initial cramps that will surely be eliminated by the next generation.
