The Witcher 4 will not fully follow the example of its predecessors

The Witcher 4 will not fully follow the example of its predecessors

The developers are staying true to the RPG genre that has brought them so much success so far, but they will still be experimenting with some new features to keep the game fresh for new and existing fans. At the same time, they want to discover new boundaries and ways of telling stories.

The next Witcher game, project-named Polaris, is still years away, but CD Projekt Red shared a small update on the project's development in its quarterly earnings reports, confirming that the development team will begin full production later this year.

They recently held a meeting with executives and shareholders at the studio, during which they answered a few questions about this highly anticipated game, which is already being tipped to be the game of the year. They also talked about the general concept of the game and how it will compare to its successful predecessor, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.

“The Witcher Polaris is still a role-playing game (RPG), but there will be some changes compared to The Witcher 3. We don't want to be stuck in the same place. We always want to push the boundaries and discover new ways of telling a story. We want to move in the next direction, so you can expect new things in the next Witcher game," executives from the CD Projekt Red studio said at the investor meeting.

This is something that all Witcher fans have probably been waiting for, as the CD Projekt Red studio has grown a lot since the development of Witcher 3. The Polish company is now one of the most recognized video game developers in the world, so it's no surprise that they want to set a new milestone in RPG gaming with their next epic fantasy title.

Even in the editorial office, we can say that The Witcher 3 is one of the best games of all time (together with KOTOR, Red Dead Redemption 2 ...), but it has some shortcomings - especially in the field of combat, which is very clumsy, boring and too easy from the first game . The enemies aren't too much of a challenge, even with a larger group, but at least they're very varied, and it's worth reading their backgrounds. For example, how to defeat or heal a werewolf, vampire, and the like.

The next game will almost certainly improve on this, as the developers have also admitted that they still have some work to do in this area. Of course, we all hope that the game will be released without bugs, or that the same disaster that happened with the release of Cyberpunk 2077 will never happen again.

The protagonist Geralt from the previous games will also be present in the fourth edition, and in all likelihood he will play second fiddle. There is a lot of talk about his adopted daughter Ciri taking over the lead role. But it may happen that the developers will put us in the role of another witcher from some other school.
