5 Android Apps You Shouldn't Miss This Week (Part 86)

Tales of Dragon

Price: Free of charge

Tales of Dragon presents itself as a mobile MMORPG. The story takes place in a medieval setting. It plays like most modern mobile MMORPGs. You control a character, defeat enemies, complete side quests and progress through the story. Like most MMORPGs, this one has an auto mode, but it differs from most https://www.androidauthority.com/ games in that you can sometimes turn it off yourself. The graphics are colorful and gameplay on the test device was smooth. At times the game feels pretty silly, which is not surprising for an MMORPG at this stage. Tales of Dragon has potential, but time will tell how it performs.

Tales of Dragon

Price: Free / $2.99 per month / $29.99 per year

CoinSnap is a niche application. It helps coin collectors identify coins with the phone's camera. It works quite easily. Place the coin in front of the camera and when you take a picture, the app will try to identify it and give you some additional details about it. That's all CoinSnap does and that's why we don't expect it to be the most popular app on the Play Store ever. Regardless, it works well, does its job, and all those who need something like this now have an option in the form of an app.

Tales of Yokai

Price: Free of charge

Tales of Yokai is an idle RPG game. Most of the mechanics are fairly typical of mobile JRPGs. We find some gacha items to summon various Yokai, evolve them and use them to fight the rogues. The idle part occurs during battle, where the game basically plays itself. The fun of playing comes mainly from managing the team and getting new Yokai, of which there are really many. It's very obvious that some people will like Tales of Yokai and others won't, but it's not a bad game for its genre.

Threads

Price: Free of charge

Threads is one of the biggest Android app releases of 2023 so far. As you probably already know, it's Instagram's attempt to clone Twitter. Considering how bad things have been for Twitter lately, Instagram could even do well here. Sign up with an existing Instagram account, follow people in the app, and then it's pretty much like any other social network. The site is removing Twitter's 240-character limit, so posts can be much longer. There are some early weaknesses that we believe will be ironed out by the developers soon.

MLB 9 Innings Rivals

Price: Free of charge

MLB 9 Innings Rivals is a new baseball game separate from the already popular MLB 9 Innings franchise. This game has multiple game modes, replay system and some other features. Orientation in portrait mode is a little annoying at first, but you get used to it quickly. There is much more emphasis on shorter playing times than full games. You still collect players with packs that you can buy in-game, just like in the main game. There's a glitch here and there, and honestly, MLB 9 Innings Rivals will never be more than an arcade game, but we've seen worse.
