The new Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W for just under 7 euros
The compact yet powerful Raspberry Pi personal computers are still very popular and have been around for well over a decade. This is not surprising, as it is possible to build very interesting devices on its basis. This is also an incentive for Raspberry Pi to prepare new computer systems as a bet.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation recently presented its new micro-controller with one big interesting feature – the price of the controller is lower than the menu at a fast food restaurant. That's right. The price of the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W controller is only seven US dollars, which translates to 6.68 euros.
The novelty is already available for purchase at https://www.raspberrypi.com/. The Pico 2W is powered by a custom RP2350 chip (SoC). It also has a built-in 150 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 processor and 264K SRAM, as well as 2MB of memory. Compared to the classic Raspberry Pi Pico 2 model, it also offers support for wireless connections 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 i and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). This is made possible by the Infineon CYW43439 chip, which is compact and extremely energy efficient.
In connection with the super-compact Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W system, a rich range of interfaces is also available, especially USB interfaces and support for programming with the UF2 interface. There is even a dedicated temperature sensor here. Nevertheless, the new Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W is also suitable for beginners, as the foundation regularly takes care of its released products, as well as publishes guides that guide the consumer step by step.
