The Asphalt franchise features some of the most popular mobile racing games ever. Among the biggest hits are Asphalt 8: Airborne and Asphalt Xtreme. But Asphalt 9: Legends was released in July 2018. It is the latest game and Asphalt 10 is also expected in 2024. It includes 50 cars, many challenges and plenty of content to play. Among other things, it includes online multiplayer, single player modes and more.
Asphalt 9: Legends uses an auto-acceleration mechanism, so you can't control it. In all fairness, it's not the best implementation, but you get used to it. The graphics are good and the social elements are also present. It's a free-to-play game with a microtransaction system, so the competitive online aspect can be a bit biased. Still, the single player modes are a good arcade racing experience. You can also skip in-app purchases if you choose to wait longer. It might be a little time consuming, but it's totally doable.

Brawl Stars

Brawl Stars is the latest hit in the series of games from Supercell, which also created games like Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. Regardless, Brawl Stars is very different from those games, offering intense 3v3 battles with a colorful cast of characters to unlock as you play. It uses simple touch controls, and there are new maps and game modes throughout to keep things interesting.
Like other games from Supercell, this is one of the best free games for Android, but it contains quite a few microtransactions, including a battle pass and other in-app purchases. If you're a fan of short matches, Brawl Stars is worth checking out.

Honkai: Star Rail is a new gacha RPG game. It takes place in space. You and other characters use the Astral Express to travel from planet to planet helping people solve problems. The game boasts excellent graphics, a good selection of music and a fun combat system, although it is a bit too simple for some. This is one of those games that you can play for months and probably have years of new content to come. Honkai: Star Rail has that something that makes you know it's going to be good. It was released in 2023 to great reviews and is one of the best gacha games on the market.

Disney Mirrorverse

Disney Mirrorverse is a surprisingly solid mobile gacha game. It uses action RPG mechanics where you run around the battlefield attacking enemies. Players collect an ever-growing cast of Disney characters, build a team and continue the story. There are also side quests, online PvP and event quests to help keep the player interested. Disney Mirrorverse has its flaws, like any game, but it is actively developed and constantly improved.

EA Sports games

EA has a monopoly on the sports game market. They are the only developer with annual releases for most sports, including their Madden NFL Overdrive game, FIFA Soccer, NBA Live Mobile, EA Sports UFC and more. These games all have very similar elements. You can play the actual sport and all these games have simulation mechanics as well. The graphics are usually pretty good, and the controls are generally solid. However, EA's sports games have many free-to-play elements. This is a common frustration for many players and makes it difficult to recommend EA in general.

Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact was a surprise release that is actually pretty good. It's a mix of an action RPG with a gacha element. It has most of the usual gacha elements, including a story you can play and many teammates you can summon. However, this game is much less restrictive and offers a completely open world and some satisfying combat mechanics. The graphics and gameplay are surprisingly good. Additionally, you can play against others on PS4, iOS and PC. Despite its free-to-play and gacha tag, this is a seriously good game that only got better over time.

Call of Duty: Mobile

It's no surprise to find Call of Duty: Mobile on our list of the best free Android games. Includes the classic Call of Duty shooter online PvP mode. In addition, it also includes a 100-player battle royale mode similar to PUBG Mobile and Fortnite. This puts Call of Duty: Mobile in the rare category of good casual FPS games like Critical Ops and great battle royale games like PUBG Mobile.
The game includes in-app purchases, but these purchases appear to be exclusively for cosmetic equipment, with many available as in-game rewards. The gameplay is good and people seem to really like this game.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

MOBA games on Android were once very popular, but their popularity has declined in recent years. One exception we're happy to accept is League of Legends: Wild Rift, which is essentially a mobile version of the popular PC MOBA game. It pits teams of five players against each other with the goal of destroying the opponent's base. Fortunately, Wild Rift's playtimes are much shorter, making the game more mobile-friendly.
As expected from Riot Games, there is a high level of polish here and the champion selection is constantly expanding. Everything will be familiar to you if you've played the PC version of the game before, but some of the skills are adapted to the on-screen controls, and to be honest, some of the changes are improvements.
